Latest Updates from Our Project:

It's the Last 40 Hours!
about 1 year ago – Tue, Feb 28, 2023 at 07:06:55 AM

Dear Friends,

Cannot believe that it has been almost the end of the project, with just about 40 hours to go. This is definitely the most exciting Kickstarter project for me. One, I have never done plushies before. Two, I never attempted to make a braille game before. Three, this might be the highest funding project for me :) Though it's not a million-dollar project, I know I am trying and working hard for it, and absolutely appreciate everyone's support and feedback.

STRETCH GOALS

We just unlocked another stretch goal - Great Horned Owl vinyl sticker! At the same time, we have revealed a new stretch goal - Tortoises Expansion Sets. It comes with four tortoises, one for each terrain. In the game, not all animals in the higher food chain can eat tortoises, and they eat kale just like rabbits :)

PLUSHIE

More than half of the votes are in. Guess who is winning the race? As of now, the fox is leading, followed by will cat. Owl and bear are just one vote behind. We'll know the final result by the end of today Pacific Time.

ENAMEL PINS

We have received a quotation and a digital sample of them. That means they are ready to go. They are gold color plated with gold color border. Very elegant and adorable :)

That's all for now :) If you have any questions, please let me know! I'll see you at the finish line.

Cheers,

Ta-Te

Fox, Owl, Rules, Bear, and Braille (FORBB?)
about 1 year ago – Tue, Feb 21, 2023 at 09:18:51 AM

Dear Friends!

We have 8 more days to go and getting really close to the Team FORK stretch goal. See below and find out what else we have for you :)

FOX TOKEN

  • Sorry. I made a new stretch goal for the fox token. It's too adorable not to be made!!!
  • For the active player token, Instead of a FORK token, you can choose the fox token.
  • It is also a wooden token, about 1 inch in height.
  • You can purchase it as an add-on for $2 each. MSRP is $3 to $5 depending on the quantity made.
  • If you have both FORK and FOX tokens, one of them can be used as a terrain token.

GREAT HORNED OWL

We also reveal another vinyl sticker stretch goal for everyone :) It's the Great Horned Owl!

RULES

  • We have finalized the rulebook and doing the last round of proofreading. Click HERE to read. Thank you Ric!
  • We also now have a German translator! Thank you Gunnar Mueller :)

BEAR ENAMEL PIN

All pledge levels that have four owl enamel pins will also include an Asiatic Black Bear bear pin. Yay!

Braille FORK

I have been thinking about unlocking Braillel FORK early. At the same time, I am worried that it might jeopardize the current campaign. If you have an interest in getting a copy of Braille FORK and also have a Twitter account, please use the following link to take the poll and let me know. I really appreciate your time.

Mid-Campaign Update
over 1 year ago – Wed, Feb 15, 2023 at 11:46:27 AM

Dear Friends,

We have passed 300% in funding and slowly trending upward. I really hope we can eventually reach $36,000 and unlock Braille FORK. Nonetheless, here are some important updates you should know :)

Card Design

We are adding a set of terrain and card number to the other corner of the card. This allows players to play the game immediately after fanning out their cards. We are also taking out the victory points on the fox cards because it's not necessary and a little bit confusing.

Arctic Icon

We are making a slight change to the artic icon because sometimes players are mistaken it for the mountain.

Meadow to Swamp

In the game, we have four terrains or suits: Artic, Desert, Mountain, and Meadow. In the final production copy, we are changing Meadow to Swamp. The reason is, in the brailled edition, braille will be added to the corner of the card with the initial of the terrain. If we don't change Meadow to Swamp, we will have two terrains with initial M's.

Hope I am making sense and thank you for your understanding :)

Tabletopia > Player Aid

We just added the food-chain player aid to Tabletopia. That makes teaching and learning the food-chain system in the game much easier.

To play FORK on Tabletopia, click HERE.

Strategicon - Orc Con

Are you around the corner this weekend? Like somewhere in LA :) If yes, we got a board game convention in LAX Hilton, and I will be teaching FORK all day on Saturday and a few hours on Sunday. Please drop by and say hi :)

Happy Friday!

Are you ready for the weekend?!

Active Player Token

FORK won the popular vote by backers ... by A LOT! YAY for FORK!

This Kickstarter exclusive active player token will be available to all Box FORK and Deluxe Box FORK pledges, plus as an add-on to purchase at $2 each.

Thank you for your participation. If you have any suggestions for the color, please let us know :)

Braille FORK

We have a lot of feedback from the last update on Braille FORK. It's great to hear your voice, and everyone is very positive about the project. Even though the project funding is less than half from reaching the braille stretch goal, we are going to begin to prepare graphic files for samples. Most of the time the graphic files will take a few weeks to complete. Most likely it will take much longer for a braille version.

Rules

We are finalizing the English rulebook next week. After that, we will begin translation for French and Spanish rules.

Stream

We have FORK live stream today at 4 pm PDT from Amanda Panda, Raynah88, and Kestrel5. Check it out live or later on Youtube :)

Reviews

"Fork is a light game. Don’t get me wrong, I did not imply anything negative with the terms ‘light,’ as it goes more to the direction of complexity-wise. A game needs not be convoluted to be enjoyable. And so does Fork. We unbox it, set it up, play, and tidy it up in an hour or even less. This is a game that fits to be a filler, or something you have for a more casual session with several games of the same size and complexity level — or perhaps, something to provision a larger playing group." - Meeple Eksyen. Thank you for reading the update and for your support. Hope yo have a wonderful weekend!

Braille FORK - To play FORK with your friends and family members who are visually impaired.
over 1 year ago – Sun, Feb 05, 2023 at 08:27:24 AM

For years I want to create a game with braille because I always believe if I can do something, I should strive to do more. After preliminary research, I decided to wait until I have a game that's easy to learn and play. The game also has to be fun, non-abstract, and affordable. In early 2022, I designed FORK. It was originally named FORC (C for carrot). After consulting with Sarah Reed and seeing if FORK could be a good fit for my first braille game, I felt there were still challenges to overcome, but I believed I had enough information to pursue.

By November/December, I found a printer that will work with me on this project. Believe me or not, most of the printers never reply to my email. When FORK is ready to launch on Kickstarter, I scheduled braille FORK to launch on Kickstarter by itself later after fall 2023 or early 2024 because I don't think we would have enough funding to print so many different packs of FORK, especially in different countries. Now since FORK had a good start at launch, I want to give it shot.

PLASTIC CARDS

Most of the braille playing cards are made in paper stock, and dots are punched. After a period of time, dots could be uneven or flattened. Punching the dots also creates little holes on the back side of the cards. With plastic cards, dots are added to the surface and then sealed with a thin layer of coding. Dots will not change in shape or fall out from the card. In addition, there are no holes in the back of the cards.

PLAYER SCORE TILES

This is only available in Braille FORK, NOT included in BOX Fork and Deluxe Box FORK.

Player score tiles are designed to be placed on the top of players' score cards. It would help players to differentiate the card they played for the current trick and the cards they scored. Each tile has a unique shape and would help players recognize their own score pile.

PACKAGING

Braille FORK is packaged in a magnetic box. It would be easier to open and close.

Note: Pocket FORK uses a tuck box, and Box FORK and Deluxe Box FORK use a traditional board game box.

Each Braille FORK comes with the following.

  • Plastic braille FORK card x 54
  • Plastic braille terrain card x 1
  • Terrain board x 1
  • Terrain token x 1
  • Score tile x 6 (Six unique shapes)
  • Rulebook in English (not braille)

PLEDGE

Braille FORK will be available after its stretch goal is unlocked at $36,000.

The first copy is $18 plus shipping. Additional copies are $25 each plus shipping. MSRP is $29 to $39.

DELIVERY

Braille FORK will be shipped separately before the end of 2023. Therefore, there will be another separate shipping fee for Braille FORK.

Also, It's only for the US only at this time. I am really sorry.
